I loved this book. So many twists and turns and you follow along every inch of the way. Rich characters, who learn and grow through the course of the story. I would highly recommend this book for middle grade readers. The protagonist is a girl but there are many male characters as well, so it's a book for everybody.
The culture is very USA, and may not be real for children in other cultures, but it would give anyone an insight to a certain echelon of US society.
Sibling rivalry, settling in to a new town and school, making new friends, it's all there. And did I mention plot twists?
And it's sprinkled with recipes as well.

This one had me at the edge of my seat! I loved the themes that played out in this book: being your true self, sibling relationships, reinvention, secrecy. For a short book meant for young readers, Yeh packs in a ton of subtlety and tough subject matter that some books for this age shy away from. Overall this is a very cute book with tasty recipes scattered throughout. It would be a great read for young girls (and boys)!
