I'm happy to see that another author has taken a well know story (Robin Hood) and transformed it into a modern story (now Robyn Hoodlum). I'm interested to see how the story unfolds since this is only the first book of the series. It really leaves you hanging at the end.

"Mischievous Robyn Loxley likes to explore Nott City at night, but one evening she returns home to find that she wasn't the only one sneaking around: her parents (along with other members of Parliament) have been kidnapped and the power-hungry Governor Crown has taken over the government. Clutching the handful of confusing clues her father left behind, Robyn flees to nearby Sherwood, where she meets several other parentless misfits, and together they begin to fight back against the Governor's control. Inspired by the tale of legendary hero Robin Hood, this action-packed near-future adventure is the 1st in the Robyn Hoodlum series." Kids' Books September 2015 newsletter

A loose retelling of the Robin Hood story featuring a biracial tween in a dystopian future America. Some of the references were really natural and clever, as were many of the multi-ethnic, multi-cultural touches. Pretty good series-opener.
