Opinion

From Library Staff

Thomas chronicles the often treacherous course life takes when middle age becomes a reality. With deep insight, well-placed sympathy and satisfying humor, Thomas makes the case that age is no impediment to a life well lived.

Is it possible to not only survive a traumatic change, but even to find it liberating?

Through a series of short essays, Thomas lovingly paints a picture of her best friend Chuck, a heartbreaking portrait of her daughter’s cancer, eloquently wrangles her addictions, and throws in all the other stuff that makes a life a life. Somehow she makes the whole mess look beautiful.

Love this work. Easy to read, profound thoughts of a 'young 'mind in an older body.
Making peace with everyone around you, while embracing the inevitable. Funny ,sad, and unforgettable. Getting copies for anyone over fifty.

I am not a big non-fiction reader, but this memoir is written so much like a conversation, I found I really enjoyed it. Short chapters make the book an easy, enjoyable read.
