"Lucas [examines the cybercrime] confronting our security--both for individuals and nations. The uncomfortable truth is that we do not take cybersecurity seriously enough. Strong regulations on automotive safety or guidelines for the airline industry are commonplace, but when it comes to the Internet, it might as well be the Wild West. Standards of securing our computers and other Internet-connected technology are diverse, but just as the rules of the road protect both individual drivers and everyone else driving alongside them, weak cybersecurity on the computers and Internet systems near us put everyone at risk"--Dust jacket flap.

I gave up on The Economist rag many, many years ago, as when I had a question about their highly questionable stats they frequently throw around, I was never able to verify them, just to invalidate them! This author evidently ignored the fact that the UK government skipped on cyber security expenditures, instead spending and wasting far too much money // guarding \\ or stationing personnel to surveil, WikiLeaks' Julian Assange while he's been holed up in the Ecuadorian embassy in the UK! In light of what is occurring in London and throughout England today [their warning to the general populace NOT to go to any emergency rooms in the hospitals there due to present cyber-attacks-malware, et cetera - - is proof positive of their dereliction of duty!
