This was a serendipitous find while scanning the shelves. What a treasure. It's been some time since I've felt truly touched by an amazingly well acted, inspiring movie. The main actor is so good that I didn't know as I was watching if, in fact, she was disabled - or just truly talented. As the director pointed out, it is a movie about acceptance - acceptance of differently abled people, acceptance of sexuality that may or may not be heterosexual - acceptance of who we are, with all our flaws and gifts.

I'm an Anglo who enjoys films, music, literature of many and various cultures. I've also seen more than half a dozen films featuring characters with major physical issues: cerebral palsy, quadriplegicism (if there is such a word), lock-in syndrome, etc.
Margarita With A Straw is a very enjoyable movie about a young woman with cerebral palsy. It affects her greatly, but doesn't dim her joie de vie, her charisma, her charm, her force of personality.
This film shows true depth of character. All the players and relationships and action appear totally authentic. You really can't ask more from a film than what this film delivers. Excellent.

It is a good movie. It deals with the uncomfortable topics of the disabled, such as sexuality! It can be uncomfortable to watch, at times! One definitely feels for the main character and all the challenges she faces due to her disability! This movie gives a voice for all the disabled people in our society!
