Only give it 2.5 stars because of Natalie Portman's performance in the movie. Otherwise, it's just not worth watching. I enjoy watching westerns, but seems like they have been making them all depressing or something. I get it that if they are going to do a movie on a historical time period account, but seriously, they don't need to make is depressing at the same time.

Not much action, a bit more of a romance story. It is very slow to start (1 hour worth) and it was very tempting to turn off. Natalie Portman's western accent slipped quite a bit through the movie which was a bit annoying. I was expecting more of a western where a woman is the gun-toting main character, but it's mainly her being protected by another man while she tries to protect her criminal husband who has been shot. There were some good mother-daughter elements in the film that honestly were the only part of the film that made it worth watching. Ewan Mcgregor did a really nice job on his character, but he was barely there or visible in the scenes he did have. If you are really into westerns, they may be your thing, but otherwise the only satisfaction is 5-10 minutes at the end of the movie.

Not worth watching. Wasted 1/2 an hour on this.

Just OK. Not a lot of action that I would expect from a western.

Just finished watching this piece of garbage. Cinematography was perhaps the worst I have seen since the old "B" movies were popular. The story line is worth about a 15 minute movie, and the acting was second rate. Don't waste your time.

A different kind of western movie.

Com'on, people---"depressing scenery"? How about realistic?
I watched this one w/o high expectations and was pleasantly surprised. If you want an action film in a western genre, sometimes stereotyped and predictable, this is your movie. If you prefer your action in 21st Century corruption, sex or slash, don't choose this one.

A dusty western with two people, a man and a woman, holding their home against a dozen of invading baddies. And they won. And a happy ending. ZZZZZ.....

A fairly unlikely plot but probably a lot of adolescents will savor it.

Jane: Ham taught me how to hunt. Rabbit stew doesn't taste very good without rabbits.

If they only see the one horse...you're home alone.
===
Dan: What kind of man brings that shit home to his wife?
Jane: The kind of man who doesn't quit. The kind of man who always comes home, no matter what.
===
Dan: Ah, I guess a fickle woman's grief moves very quickly.
Jane: Oh, what would you know about grief? You know what, Dan? You might want to see a day where the sun don't just shine on your story. 'Cause there is a whole world out there of other people's tales, you just care and listen.
===
Dan: ...And they put me in a prison camp not a lot of men made it out of. It's the ones that had something
really strong to hold on for. If I didn't have a picture of you...in my mind's eye...I never would've made it. A man loses purpose, that's when a man dies.

Jane: I've been running my whole life. Doesn't end. They come to my house...I'm gonna protect it. Whatever happens, I gotta put my face to it.
===
Jane: If them bullets don't kill you, and this storm you somehow brought upon us don't kill you, goes without saying...I will kill you.
===
Jane: I don't need a doctor. I need a gunslinger.
Dan: Them Bishop boys are coming for you... you don't need a gunslinger. You need a goddamn regiment. If I were you... I would just go home, ... Anything else you choose to do... is pure ignorance.
===
Clerk: Got enough firepower here to start another war. What you want all this stuff for, anyways?
Jane: Just do.
===
Jane: Well, I want to go see the Pacific. I want to step my feet where there's no further to go.
===
Jane: You don't even want to know what a mother comes up with when someone kills their child. Shooting you didn't even make my list. It's too kind.
