I just happened to change my circumstances (moving from Toronto to Vancouver to enrol in BCIT) in 1966, just in time to start watching the first season of Star Trek. Watched the first two seasons completely. By then, most people knew it was something different, at least. Many thought "unique" and "one of a kind."

I'm not a Trekkie. But I am fascinating with production details of TV/movies. So, I picked this book up and thought, "what the heck..."

Wow. The book is an ORAL history, as recalled by dozens of people associated--sometimes obliquely, sometimes intimately--with its gestation and creation and the final products (various series and the movies, too.). You want "Inside stories"? You've got them, on every page.

I had NO idea just how unique and special this series was, and have finally been able to answer the question: "Why do so many people continue to watch a TV show now over half a century old as something MORE than a curiosity or as a study in vintage entertainment?

Want the answer(s), too? This is the book. As Spock would say, "Fascinating."
