I liked it. Pacing was nice and it was a good love story.
If you're looking for a true steampunk teen novel, this might not be the best choice. The only things steampunky in this book are elaborate inventions by a secret group of people calling themselves "Amusementists." Beyond that, the story is set in Victorian England; and it's about a 16-year-old servant girl who holds the key (literally) to unlocking secrets about an invention that could change the course of the world forever. Since the inventor has dastardly motives, no one wants him to be able to use his machine. The story has mystery, romance, and apparently, more parts to come. Unfortunately, it was forgettable. If you want to read something much better, I highly recommend "Clockwork Angel" by Cassandra Clare. You won't be disappointed!
