Family is where we learn both wisdom—navigating a complicated world in a God-honoring way and courage to live it out because as life bears out: the right thing to do is not always the easy thing to do. These two principles drive the practical application of this book towards finding the proper place of technology in our lives because any good thing that we consume without much effort or reflection can become detrimental.

Crouch casts a vision for ten commitments to human flourishing as related to technology and at the end of each chapter he relays how his family met (and missed) the mark in those commitments, which helps inspire personal application rather than condemn and legalize. I appreciated the themes of furnace versus hearth, toil versus work, leisure versus true rest, and distinguishing tools from the explosive "easy, everywhere" omnipresence of technology.

This book calls us toward ways to deepen community with all those among whom we find ourselves.

"...he who follows worthless pursuits lacks sense." -Proverbs 12:11
