When her friend Monday Charles goes missing and Monday's mother refuses to give her a straight answer, Claudia digs into her disappearance.
"This is the story of how my best friend disappeared. How nobody noticed she was gone except me. And how nobody cared until they found her ... one year later." Monday Charles is missing, and Claudia seems to be the one person who notices. Claudia and Monday have always been inseparable - more sisters than friends. So when Monday doesn't turn up for the first day of school, Claudia starts to worry. When she doesn't show for the second day, or the second week, Claudia knows that something is wrong. Monday wouldn't just leave her to endure tests and bullies alone. With her grades on the line, Claudia needs her best - and only - friend now more than ever. But Monday's mother refuses to give Claudia a straight answer, and Monday's sister April is even less help. As Claudia digs deeper into her friend's disappearance, she discovers that no one seems to remember the last time they saw Monday. How can a teenage girl just vanish without anyone noticing that she's gone? In her dark, thrilling, and timely sophomore novel, acclaimed author Tiffany D. Jackson unravels a complex mystery and explores the traumatic effects of the truth. -- From dust jacket.

This book is insanely gripping and really well written. I was completely absorbed from the very first page and crying by the end. What an illuminating narrative, teaching the reader about issues regarding racism, gentrification, and mental health through the main character's first-person account.

Such a gripping story couldn’t put it down. Loved reading it and I loved the note at the end that the author put. Its a very emotionally provoking story and just had you thinking after about how someone can go unnoticed with questions being brought up.

Please, please read this book. This perspective is one every teenager or adult needs to experience. This book is a thriller, centered around the loss of a dyslexic teen named Claudia. When her friend doesn't show up to school, Claudia does everything to try and find out where her best friend is. The story is told with jumps in time, with Claudia recalling the "before" and "the after".
This book feels like a punch in the gut, and I wouldn't change it for anything. Many people say things are "eye opening" but this book truly made me think "Holy crap. I never thought about how other people lived like this."
I normally read realistic fiction, adventure, and mystery, but no matter what you like to read, READ THIS BOOK.

This was a well written, exciting novel. However, I found that it was a little hard to understand when everything was happening. It kept jumping in between different times and there was nothing to help you place it on a grander timeline. When I got to the plot twist it changed things quite dramatically and it made me want to read the whole thing over again to understand it better. Overall, I think it was a pretty good book.

Another weird twist in the last few chapters, not unlike the author's other novel, but this time there is more explanation around the twist and the conclusion felt more satisfying than it did in Allegedly. The shifting timelines made for a disjointed read - I had a hard time tracking when things were taking place. This was particularly evident after The Twist occurred. I feel like this book might be better the second time through.

This was an exciting, dark read. The plot of Monday's Not Coming is relatively simple--Claudia's friend, Monday, is missing, and she seems to be the only person who's noticed (or at least, who's cared). Every day without Monday is heavier, and Claudia's desperation and risk-taking escalate as the school year drags on. Without being preachy or didactic, Jackson weaves cyberbullying, learning disabilities, gentrification, infertility, income inequality and so many more social concerns naturally into her novel.
