Amber wakes up in a hospital. She can't move. She can't speak. She can't open her eyes. Though she can hear everyone around her, no one knows because she's in a coma. But she doesn't remember what happened. And she has a sneaking suspicion her husband had something to do with it. Alternating between her paralyzed present, the week before her accident, and a series of childhood diaries from twenty years ago, the narratives build and collide for an ending that leaves readers speechless. This novel delves into the blurred gap between who we are and who we'd like to be.

Almost nothing is as it initially appears in BBC News veteran Feeney's bold if overambitious debut, a serpentine tale of betrayal, madness, and murder. (Publishers Weekly)

Really enjoyed this new author. The plot is suspenseful, and moves along at a fast pace. Definitely a "who done it" novel that keeps the reader guessing.

A few really good twists and turns but the author spent a lot of unnecessary time getting there only to really rush through said twists and turns before concluding. It was OK I guess, I just wish she didn’t set us up initially with yet ANOTHER female protagonist in a psychological thriller who is just seemingly pushed and pulled without any agency. The author really didn’t spend time building the suspense that this genre requires to support the multiple twists and turns. There are much better psychological thrillers out there honestly.

More twists than a 3-story rollercoaster. Kept me guessing until the end. If you love psychological fiction, grab this book. There were several places where I couldn’t figure out why we were being shown certain events, but they all dovetail together beautifully. Highly recommend!

Now this is what you call a psychological thriller! This book had me hooked, loved every bit of it. A chilling story, with a plot that slowly reveals itself to you. Excellent writing too, throughly enjoyed it.

As someone said below, I feel like I should go back and read this again because I did get a little confused at the end. (I'm pretty sure I figured it out now.) Otherwise it was a great read. Each chapter left me guessing; how in the world is this going to end. It usually takes me 3 to 5 weeks to read a book; but I couldn't put this one down. It was a dark story, (to me). So if you are looking for something upbeat you may want to choose another book.

Sorry but I was not a fan of this book. I found it confusing and thin on plot. Definetly not a feel good book.

Like the "Sixth Sense"; I wanted to start the novel from the beginning as soon as I finished it to find the clues I may have missed. Can't wait to see how they turn this into a movie/TV series and who will play the leads.

Loved this book. I couldn't put it down. Unlike some of the other reviews, I did not find it hard to follow and loved the twists from the author. It moved fast and was a very easy read. Can't wait for her next novel!

This book is full of surprises. High marks for all the misdirection and small cues that lead you to the breathtaking finish. I hope there is a sequel. . .
