One of the most visually incredible pieces of cinema that I have ever seen!...

Writing and plot could have been much better yet, thoroughly captivating film!...

Jenny Agutter (nice ass shot!) is more of a turn-on than Farrah Fawcett!...

Roscoe Lee Browne as 'Box' is one of the high-points!...

The movie works because, the concept is so captivating that, it makes up for the lack of plot and lazy writing (?)...

Imagine a society where they tell you not to go outside or you will die. Kind of like the covid panicdemic? Eventually someone does go outside. Surprise ending.

This extremely dated movie has absolutely terrible acting, directing, music, and pacing by modern standards; there are a handful of interesting ideas, compelling shots, and other snippets of decency lost amidst the work, explaining why this film is remembered, but overall it's not worth watching these days as entertainment, only as a historical artifact for those interested in the early days of sci-fi cinema.

This movie was clunky back when it was released in the 70's- but it did have some intriguing dystopian ideas in it that still make it interesting to watch. I still enjoy the soundtrack the most out of everything in the film.

Compelling story with good sets and enjoyable if cheesy special effects and action. If you like Omega Man, you'll probably like this. Box was insanely awesome and a lot of fun. Peter Ustinov's character I did not enjoy. A little bit more nudity (Breasts) than I expected from a PG rating, so parents be forewarned.

I give 4 stars for this one. This is a very interesting movie that shows us the future. Dome cities, that's the planned future. Try to see the meaning, not the special effects of a movie. This movie carries a meaning and it's not entirely sci-fi. I heard a guy speak on talk radio, and he said that in Ontario some engineers who plan the future showed some pictures and told about plans of how the future cities will be like. It's dome cities, and obviously the control system (and the age limit system for the workers - the "hedonism" in this movie is a fake, bec. in the society of the future only those will be allowed to live who are useful workers) will be similar to what this movie shows. This movie in fact shows us in great lines the shape of things to come, just the dummy public is too superficial to see over the details. The micro-chipping of us will be the first step to lead us toward that world; in the Toronto Star there was an article by Kevin Haggerty, expert on security - the title was: "One Generation Is All They Need", date: Dec. 10, 2006. That article told a bit too much to the public, so it has been removed from the Net page of the Star, and it appeared on another site with the title slightly changed to "A Generation Is All They Need." Who are those "they?" The subtitle says: "Governments and Corporations will join forces to break down that fragile barrier" (of worry about loss of privacy - but it will be a total loss of freedom too). And there is another article, look it up on the Net: "Enslaving the human race with microchip technology." And the dome cities, which this movie shows, will be reality, they will contain 30,000 persons each, ant they will be totally separated from Nature. No stepping out of them, at least for the plebs. High speed trains on covered tracks will connect them. Just today the radio News1130 said that soon cash will disappear, cards too, and we "just walk" into the transit...hahaha, but it did not say that all this will work with the body implant chip. Like cattle branded today, and in the Toronto Star article I mentioned above it says that even household appliances will be turned on ONLY with our personal body implant chip. No escape from the system, and those who don't accept the implant won't be able to even buy food, and barter trade will be forbidden and those who try to live outside the system will be outlawed and hunted down. (The Bond movie "Casino Royal" promotes the implant chip as a saver of life. The Star article also does this trick.) Like a bad joke, this system is exactly what the Book of Revelations says about the brand of "666" on our hand. But it isn't a joke - it's a total control system. Bye-bye individual selfish freedom. No private property either - the weekly allowance will be downloaded on yr implant chip; what is left is erased at the end of the week and the new weekly allowance loaded on it. And the implant not only transmits info, it receives also info into yr body and nervous system. The future is Dictatorship and slavery. At the end of this movie Michael York tells us that outside the system there is freedom in the rusted ruins of our (present) past. Well, with satellites watching our every move, that's only a dream. Movies show us the future, and that's a joke too, because the movie writers participate in secret conferences about the planned future, and they show it to us like "fiction" and they laugh that we think it's only a tale to entertain us. But it conditions our minds for that future and so the shock will be dampened by it. I suggest you watch the movie "THX 1138" and read my comment on it.

OK for its time, but dated now (as most 60's & 70's movies are). A decent story that has a similar theme in other SciFi movies, but still good enough to be interesting. Special effects are primitive compared to today's versions and it kind of detracts from the film.

I did not like this movie. It could have been better, because it had some interesting points of view. But it never really got anywhere, as far as I'm concerned, and was super cheezy. Also very long and drawn out. I wouldn't recommend wasting your time watching it.

This DVD movie was entertaining and interesting but not one of my favorite for this year. Not too bad---good performance. Very predictable but still entertaining.
