Cora is tired of her training to be queen, which leaves her no free time. Her fairy godmother sends a pet crocodile to help.

Add a CommentFive stars. Hilarious! We howled with laughter! Recommend reading aloud as a family. Our 6yo daughter and 9yo son loved the antics of the mischief making crocodile. Spoiler alert: it maybe hard for some parents to hear the King say "Are you being a good girl?" to his daughter. Thanks to Martha at CHPL for recommending this one.
Such a fun story about over-scheduled Cora who has to be so focused on being a queen-in-training she doesn't have time for fun or anything else!
It's a picture book but almost bridges gap to a very early chapter book. Too long for storytime with my 4 year old but my 7 year old really enjoyed reading to himself.
A well written story with colorful illustrations.
Any young person who is interested in princesses and fairy-tales should read this book. It's got a great message. Princess Cora is angry about her rigid queen-in-training schedule so she asks her fairy godmother for help, but that doesn't go as smoothly as she hoped. After one day of freedom and the hilarious antics of a mischievous crocodile, Princess Cora finds the courage to use her voice to enact change. She learns that the only person who can really solve her problems and save the day is herself, which should serve her well as Queen. The beautiful watercolor illustrations by Brian Floca really bring the story to life. I wish I had mischievous crocodile who loves cream puffs in my life!
A 2018-2019 Epic Reads pick for grades 1-3. Unhappy queen-in-training Cora receives a pet crocodile from her fairy godmother, who disrupts her mundane daily routine.
It isn't every princess that ends up with a crocodile for a friend, but Princess Cora does just that in this funny fairy tale. When training to be the queen gets to be too much for Cora, she wishes for a dog, but gets a crocodile instead. This beginning chapter book is funny and fun!
Princess Cora is too busy! She has to study, exercise and take 3 baths a day all while behaving perfectly. When she asks her fairy godmother for a puppy she gets a crocodile instead! Fun story about a young girl taking control of her life.
A delightful new fairy tale. A relatable scenario, a meaningful message, witty turns of phrase, humorously told, a wee bit naughty, and hilariously illustrated. Reminiscent of Roald Dahl and Quentin Blake. Highly recommended.
A delightful tale! Funny and satisfying, both in text and the ink, watercolor & goache illustrations. An easy chapter book and a great read-aloud. Ages 5-9.
