This one spoke loudly to where my life is right now, a place I can't imagine is unique to me. Love writes in an easy, conversational way that feels like home. It's a quick read, but gets at the heart of things very cleanly. I'm now a fan. Thanks, Matt.

Matt Love has become one of the premier chroniclers of the more obscure pockets of Oregon history, from musical festivals to his own story to the filming of "Sometimes a Great Notion." In this memoir, he, with wit and self-deprecation, writes about teaching, acting as caretaker for a wildlife refuge and his haphazard path to writing. Both the title and the chapter titles play off of Rolling Stones' songs. A highly enjoyable read and an antidote to crap like "Eat, Pray, Love." As a former student of his, I read it with added interest.
