Cute book. You can sense the dogs anticipation for someone to play ball with, and the disappointment when everyone is busy or at school.

Anyone with a ball-obsessed dog will immediately see the similarities to this dog and smile. The amount of ways a single word can be expressed is impressive, and the artist does an excellent job of portraying all those feelings a dog has towards its most special object.

With one simple word (ball), Mary Sullivan conveys the excitement and love a dog has for his toy ball. The book explores the world of a dog as he waits for his friend to come home from school.
