I gave it 3 stars because I kept turning the pages. But it was a very formulaic modern mystery crime novel

I have never read a Shari Lapena book before, but I can say that I was not disappointed. Her book, The Couple Next Door did not fail to keep me on edge. The book follows a family whose baby got kidnapped, and the police investigation that follows it. I personally enjoy these types of books, as I like the suspense. If you enjoy books filled with suspense and keep you wanting more, I would highly recommend reading this book. As a warning, this book does involve mental illness and could be triggering to some people, so if you easily get triggered by this, I would not recommend it. There were many times where something would happen that I did not expect, and was a great aspect to the book. The characters were well written and the plot was well thought out. Overall, the book was a good read and I would recommend. @mdawg of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library

I prefer books with 1st person narratives, so I do feel like the book being in 3rd person the whole time was a little boring. I feel like although the author did a good job describing the two main characters, it would've been more enjoyable to hear the story in their points of view. There were definitely some twists that kept the story interesting so I gave it three stars, but overall this wasn't my favorite.

I gave it 2 stars because I was able to finish the book. It was not my cup of tea; the story really never takes off, making it harder and harder for me to keep my eyes open while reading.
It seems to me, from others I have heard from, you either love it or hate it.

Filled with twists and turns and hard to put down once you've started!

Wow!! I read this book in one weekend - was very hard to put down. Lots of twists and turns and surprises. It's easy to see the author is a fan of Harlan Coben... Her style of writing is very similar to his. A good book!

Randomly chose this book from the available downloads and it ended up being one of the best fiction novels I've read. Excellent all the way around. I expected to be let down by the ending but it was excellent. Can't wait to read her other novels.

Would recommend this book to all as it was filled with so many unexpected twists and turns throughout it. When a couple decides to go to the neighbours for a harmless dinner party they return home to their worst nightmare. I myself may often predict and ending before it happens but this one i did not see coming.

The book started off annoying with the continuous 3rd party writing for the first chapter or 2. Some things were repetitive while others were just drawn out too long. I finished the book to discuss it for a bookclub meeting. The ending, while I was glad it came to end, was disappointing.
