Born Helen Folasade Adu (in 1959), Sade (pronounced Shar-Day) is a truly gifted singer/songwriter who has been a noteworthy influence in the pop music industry for 30 years now. Originally from Nigeria, Sade's family emigrated to Britain in the early 1960s. At an early age Sade became interested in becoming a singer. With her deep, husky voice and her preference for a smooth jazz/soul sound, Sade became an instant sensation with the release of her debut album "Diamond Life" in 1984. A 4-time Grammy Award winner, to date Sade has 10 albums to her credit, six of which have gone multi-platinum. This "Best Of" collection contains 16 tracks in all which were recorded in the years from 1984-1993. Three of my favourites are - Sweetest Taboo, Love Is Stronger Than Pride, and Smooth Operator.
