This is a difficult book to review because I don't want to leave spoilers. A skeleton is found buried with its hand reaching up as though struggling to reach the surface. The challenge facing investigators, to determine the who, when, and what, provides the story arc. But the book is more than this. It is a human interest tale. Think of a tapestry of threads of light (of courage, perseverance, sacrifice, love) interwoven with threads of darkness (of cruelty, indifference, violence). When I finished the book, I had to take a few moments to let the impact of the story percolate in my mind. This book is worth your time if you are willing to face the relationship between dark and light. At times, not an easy read. But the journey is worth it.
