One of my favorite musicals of all-time has been adapted into something that is less than stellar. There is a bizarre mixed quality about this film. On the one hand, they did have a large orchestra for the music, which gave it an epic quality. The sets and costumes were mouth-watering and gorgeous. The look of the film is amazing, as is the cinematography. However, the film is a musical. It is known for its singing music. And that is where the film falls down. The singing parts really needed to be sung by people who could actually sing. Otherwise, what's the point?
