Avalon is the first book in this series by Mindee Arnett along with a prequel called Proxy. In this book Jeth Seagrave along with his team of teenage con artists work for the crime lord, Hammer Dafoe to achieve impossible heists. Throughout Jeth’s life, since he was seven, he has been searching for a way to earn freedom for him and his sister along with Avalon; his deceased parent’s spaceship that now belongs to Hammer. After ten years Jeth gets the perfect opportunity to try and make a deal with Hammer; to go into the Belgrave which is supposedly the most haunted place in the universe, in order to retrieve a missing ship called the Donerail, in exchange for freedom and to have ownership over Avalon. Things soon start to go wrong after they find the ship; holes start appearing in the walls and control panels of the spaceship, things start to disappear and now they start to get the feeling the three survivors they rescued off of the Donerail can’t be trusted. Secrets about the survivors and Jeth’s family are starting to reveal themselves, like how his parents actually died. The biggest secret of all, that has been hidden all these years from Jeth and his sister Lizzie, is now deciding the faith of his family, crew and even the whole universe. This book is four out of five stars for me; also I think that the book was perfectly named. For the reason that Jeth has been trying for ten years to try and own Avalon again because it is the only thing that’s he has ever wanted. Also the book revolves around the ship because it drives the story’s plot forward. Finally I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves books that are filled with action-packed adventures; this book will certainly keep you on the edge of your seat wanting you to read more.
