The Grand Mosque of Paris

a Story of How Muslims Rescued Jews During the Holocaust
Aug 02, 2019caleherreman rated this title 4.5 out of 5 stars
A moving true story, beautifully illustrated, of how the staff of the Grand Mosque of Paris saved the lives of many Jews during the dark days of Nazi German occupation. For the most part, these were North African Jews who looked a lot like the mosque's congregants, most of whom were also of North African descent. But they were at the beginning of a pipeline for getting Jews, resistance fighters, Allied spies and others out of Paris to the safer countryside. There are still many unknowns in this seldom-told tale, but the author explains in the Afterword that the information presented has been verified by documentation-- difficult to come by in such clandestine activity.
