As humans, I think we often look at birds as if they're beneath us-- not as smart, not as adaptable, not as whatever. And sometimes annoying. We've driven many to extinction, and more are on the brink. I'm not yet a birder but I definitely have the potential. If I ever get to retire, I'm buying the best pair of binoculars I can find and heading out with a little notebook, into the woods and swamps and meadows of Oregon. Because I think birds are amazing.
